Nursery

Welcome to nursery! We currently have a 52 place setting. Our class teacher is Mrs Goddard and our nursery nurse is Ms Ludvigsen.
We learn inside and outdoors everyday, whatever the weather! Inside the nursery, there are opportunities to learn in the sand, water, small world, role play, construction, playdough, maths and literacy areas. Some activities will be lead by an adult and some will be independently accessed by the children. The adults will observe the children closely to see their everyday successes and share these with parents on Tapestry.
We are lucky to have a lovely environment to work in outside which has a large sandpit, mud kitchen, water factory, high tower with slide, music wall, maths, role play and investigation sheds and opportunities to mark make and develop our physical skills.
Our PE days are Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning where we will use the school hall for dance, drama, games and gymnastics. We will also visit our wonderful new library every week to borrow books to take home. When we are settled into nursery, we will take home a school reading book every week to develop our love of books and reading.
Our topics this year can be found on our curriculum page on this website, so please take a look. We have lots of trips and experiences planned so please look out for letters and notices on the nursery notice board.
Please pop in to see us anytime! Our door is always open.

Year 1

We are the Noble Neptune’s and we are really excited about all of the things our teacher, Miss Lazenby has planned for us this year. To make sure our class is extra fun Mrs Corden and Miss Chappel will be helping us with all of our work too. The topics that we will be looking at this year can be found on our curriculum page.

Noble Neptune’s have lots of things to remember each week so you might want to make a note that P.E kit will be needed on a Monday (outdoor) and Wednesday (indoor). As your child progresses through Year 1 they will be getting homework on a Friday to be collected in on a Wednesday. Noble Neptune’s are encouraged to read at home as often as possible, as they are given the chance to change their reading books every day in class and to make sure their efforts don’t go unnoticed, they can earn prizes the more they read! To help them with their reading and writing, new spellings will also be given on a Friday to be tested the following Friday, when helping your child to practice their weekly spellings it will help them to use their Phonics knowledge to sound out and blend letters together. If you need any help or advice with Phonics or you have any other queries, don’t hesitate to call in and see me.

Year 3

Hello and welcome to Year 3! My name is Miss Lawrence and I am the Year 3 teacher. We will also have Mrs Williams in our class this year and she will help to support us with our work. We are really looking forward to getting stuck into our work this year, especially our topics which can be found in the curriculum page!

Because we are now in Year 3, it is very important for us to become more responsible for our own learning. We need to remember to bring both our indoor and outdoor P.E. kit on a Tuesday ready for our lesson in the afternoon, as well as our reading books every single day. Reading is very important in Year 3 and both Miss Lawrence and Mrs Williams are looking forward to listening to us read. We will also receive work to be completed at home and spellings to learn each week.

If you have any questions, queries or concerns, please call in and see me.

Reading books are to be changed throughout the week and reading records will be checked daily by Miss Miller. Children need to read at least 3 times per week – more if possible! It is really important that children are encouraged to complete homework set and read often at home. Reception

We are the shooting stars and we are our reception class. Our teacher is Miss Gill and we are very lucky to have Miss Talbot and Mrs Davidson working with us and helping us to learn, grow and develop.

We learn indoors and outdoors every day so please ensure your child has clothing appropriate to the ever changing British weather! Children will have many opportunities to participate in adult led focus activities and to initiate their own learning as well as consolidate, extend and deepen knowledge and understanding during continuous and enhanced provision time.

Our PE day is a Monday so please ensure your child has both indoor and outdoor kits in school, clearly labelled with their name. Homework will be sent out on a Friday to be collected the following Wednesday. This will include a reading book and fun activities for you and your child to complete together. We encourage children to read every day, both at home and in school, to develop a love and enthusiasm for reading. Children will have the opportunity to change their reading book twice a week. We will also visit our fabulous school library once a week, where children will be able to borrow a book of their choice.

We cannot wait to learn about our fantastic topics this year, these can be found on the curriculum page. We aim to plan lots of exciting trips and learning opportunities so please keep an eye out for letters and notices throughout the year.

If you have any questions or need to chat, please don’t hesitate to pop in – our door is always open!

Year 2

We are Magical Mars and we are looking forward to working really hard this year. We are really lucky as we have two teachers helping us to achieve this year - Mrs Duffy and Mrs Box!

Things we need to remember: P.E is on Thursdays - please bring both indoor and outdoor kits. Year 2 will have their SATs in May, so it is really important that children are encouraged to complete homework, read daily at home and learn their timestables. In school, there will be lots of work being done to prepare the children for these tests.

We have opportunity to change our books everyday if we need to so it is important to read every day at home. We all have a reading chart in the back of the books. The more books we read the more prizes we can earn. Homework books are collected in on a Wednesday and new homework is set on a Friday. We have a weekly spelling test on a Friday and new spellings are given Friday too. Please encourage your child to learn their spellings as it will help them with their reading and writing. When practising the spellings, please try and put the word into a sentence so the children understand how the word can be used.

Our Topics this year can be found under the curriculum page on this website so please feel free to take a look. If you have any queries or you want to speak to me, please feel free to pop in and see me.
